To increase student ownership in their music making and instill in them the value of exceptional repertoire they are given a chance to select some of their repertoire for the year. This is done in the form a voting assignment. Student votes will only be counted if they provide rational on the following topics: What makes this appropriate for our choir? What will we learn from this piece? What do I like about the piece?
Assignment 1: (Camerata, Concert Choir Fall/Chorale Spring)
Students select from one of three pieces.
West Side Story
Swingin' With The Gershwins
The Lion King on Broadway
Bright Morning Star
Assignment 2: (Camerata, Concert Choir Winter)
Students will work in selections to pick a piece they will submit for consideration.
Assignment 3: (Camerata, Concert Choir Spring)
Students will select a piece and create a document to convince other students to vote for their.
